Profile

Dr. Kim’s research interests include English learners’ academic development in both language and content area, ESOL teacher training, immigrant youth identity construction, translanguaging, new media digital literacy, online/hybrid course development in teacher education, and qualitative research in areas of critical discourse analysis and digital ethnography. Prior to joining George Mason University, Dr. Kim worked with area teachers in the state of Missouri to enhance their intercultural sensitivity and instructional methods to better serve the growing EL population. At Mason, She seeks to collaborate with content area educators to build a socially more just curriculum with a linguistically and culturally sustaining pedagogical approach for students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
